Restorative Storytelling for nature connection
We are born to tell stories. We think in stories, remember in stories, and turn just about everything we experience into a story. Storytelling is one of the most ancient forms of human communication.
For young children, stories are a way to make sense of life, the world, and themselves. As we grow up, we use stories distil wisdom, connect with others and create change.
Stories are nourishment for the soul - particularly in our fast world. Stories are magic - they can take us anywhere. Stories can heal - often reminding us that what we need is already within us.
STORYTELLING AND NATURE CONNECTION
Imagine for a moment: A gentle breeze rustles through the trees; silver fairy rings of lichen uncover a forgotten path. Somewhere, hidden in the forest, a story begins to unfold. The natural world speaks to us. It calls us, whispers, sings, sometimes bellows. Can we listen - truly - to this Earth song and share its magic with others?
Restorative Storytelling™ is a form of conscious, intentional communication that can be used to create, heal and strengthen classrooms, families and communities. In conjunction with nature-based awareness practices, these tools and techniques for oral storytelling are used to nurture a deeper understanding, a greater appreciation and a sense of belonging to and for the natural world.
During this introductory course you will have the opportunity to craft and practise your own stories in a safe and supportive environment, gaining skills and confidence to use and adapt Restorative Storytelling™ in your life and workplace. You will be guided to explore the hidden powers in your voice and gestures. Discover authentic ways to connect with your children, community or audience through deep listening. Use simple mindfulness practices in nature to practice embodiment and awaken your senses and observation skills. These transformative tools will change forever the way you communicate.
